Is there really any benefit to walking my commute?

 There are  MANY benefits to walking in general, especially on your commute: 

 

  • Walking lowers blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Walking helps with better memory and cognitive function
  • Walking lowers your stress levels and improves your mood
  • Walking is correlated with a longer life
  • Walking as opposed to driving, is better for the environment
  • Walking reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Walking saves you money (future health costs and current fuel costs)


Is my route to work or school really walk-able for me?

 If you have concerns about the distance and time it takes to travel on your safest routes, be sure to plan ahead and check google maps. Google gives you the option of choosing between driving, public transit, walking, biking, and much more!
